Stories from Equipping the Saints: ETS Funds New Synod Staff Position for Assistant to the Bishop for Authentic Diversity and Leadership

The Equipping the Saints mission appeal is bringing new life and possibilities to our synod as funds are now being distributed from the Siebert Lutheran Foundation grant and many other initial gifts from synod leaders and first-round congregations. The first large disbursement of funds is being designated for the hiring of a new synod staff position of an Assistant to the Bishop for Authentic Diversity and Leadership. That position has been posted and applications are being received. This new role on synod staff will facilitate the development of synod-wide and congregational diversity strategies and provide support, training, and coaching for synod staff and rostered and lay congregational leaders. We are excited about ways we will continue to learn and grow together as synod to live more fully as God’s beloved community.

The congregational portion of the Equipping the Saints Campaign is getting underway now. Thank you to the congregations who have already participated and we look forward to those who are ready to learn more! Congregations are not being asked to give through their budgets, but instead simply share the story of the campaign and let your members decide if they would like to participate with a gift. The process begins with a video presentation for your council. To be equipped to share the opportunity with your council please join us on Zoom Monday, October 3 at 6:30 pm, or Tuesday, October 4 at 10 am.
